Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 12 oz rotini pasta
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta: Cook rotini pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to keep warm.
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Sauté garlic: Add minced garlic to the cooked beef and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Add flour: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the beef and garlic mixture. Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste and form a roux base for the sauce.
- Whisk in milk: Gradually pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps, creating a smooth sauce base.
- Season and thicken: Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Add cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is creamy and smooth.
- Combine pasta and sauce: Add the cooked rotini to the skillet and toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the garlic Parmesan sauce. Heat through for 1–2 minutes.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the top and serve the dish warm for best flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute rotini with other short pasta shapes like penne or fusilli.
- For a richer sauce, use whole milk or add a splash of cream.
- Adjust seasoning to taste; additional garlic powder or red pepper flakes can add extra flavor.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, gently warm in a skillet with a splash of milk to loosen the sauce.
