Description
This refreshing Blackberry Lemonade recipe combines the natural sweetness of blackberries with tangy lemon juice, creating a perfect summer drink that is easy to prepare and delightful to taste.
Ingredients
Blackberry Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup water (for syrup)
Lemonade
- 4 cups water (total, including 1 cup used in syrup)
- 1 cup lemon juice
Instructions
- Make the Blackberry Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the sugar and fresh blackberries. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while using a spoon to gently crush the berries to release their juice. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the syrup to cool slightly.
- Strain the Syrup
Using a fine strainer or cheesecloth, carefully strain the blackberry syrup into a large pitcher. This will remove all seeds and pulp, leaving a smooth syrup. Discard the seeds and remaining solids.
- Finish the Lemonade
Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of water into the pitcher with the strained syrup. Mix well to combine. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator and serve over ice for a refreshing drink.
Notes
- Use fresh blackberries for the best flavor, but frozen berries can be substituted in a pinch.
- Adjust the sugar quantity if you prefer your lemonade sweeter or less sweet.
- For a sparkling version, replace still water with sparkling water just before serving.
- Garnish with lemon slices or extra blackberries for an attractive presentation.
