Main Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
Sauce Ingredients
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
Garnish and Serving
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Cooked white or brown rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat oils and cook broccoli: Heat the vegetable oil and sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook shrimp: Push the broccoli to the sides and add the shrimp to the center of the pan. Cook the shrimp for 2–3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and opaque.
- Prepare sauce and combine: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and red pepper flakes. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and broccoli, stirring well to combine.
- Thicken sauce: Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and cook for another 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Finish and serve: Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve the stir fry hot over cooked white or brown rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor and texture, add sliced bell peppers, snap peas, or mushrooms to the stir fry.
- Adjust spice level by increasing or decreasing the red pepper flakes according to your preference.
- Use tamari or coconut aminos as gluten-free alternatives to soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
