Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layers
- 1 (10 oz) bag Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers (Ghirardelli recommended)
- 1 (10 oz) bag White Chocolate Melting Wafers (Ghirardelli recommended)
Toppings
- 1/2 cup Christmas Colored M&M’s
- Christmas Colored Sprinkles and Nonpareils (quantity as desired for decoration)
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8 inch square cake pan with parchment paper, allowing the paper to extend over the edges for easy removal of the bark later.
- Melt Dark Chocolate: Melt the dark chocolate melting wafers either by microwaving in short 20-30 second bursts, stirring in between, or by using a double boiler over simmering water until the chocolate is fully smooth and melted.
- Create Dark Chocolate Base: Pour the melted dark chocolate into the prepared pan and spread it evenly across the bottom using a spatula to create a smooth base layer.
- Set Dark Chocolate: Allow the dark chocolate layer to rest at room temperature until it begins to lose its shine and starts to set but is not fully hardened, ensuring the white chocolate will adhere properly.
- Melt White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate wafers following the package instructions until smooth and creamy, using the microwave or double boiler method.
- Layer White Chocolate: Pour the melted white chocolate gently over the dark chocolate base and carefully smooth it out with a spoon or offset spatula, avoiding mixing the two chocolate layers.
- Add Toppings: Immediately sprinkle the Christmas colored M&M’s, sprinkles, and nonpareils evenly over the white chocolate layer while it is still soft to ensure they stick well.
- Refrigerate to Set: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for about 1 hour or until the bark is completely firm and set.
- Cut and Serve: Use the parchment overhang to lift the bark out of the pan, then cut into bite-sized pieces and serve or package for gifting.
Notes
- Use high-quality melting wafers like Ghirardelli for best texture and flavor.
- Ensure to spread the dark chocolate evenly to avoid uneven thickness.
- Do not let the dark chocolate fully harden before adding the white layer to help the layers bind.
- You can customize the toppings with any seasonal candies or nuts as desired.
- Store leftover bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
