Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning mix
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Gravy
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup whole milk or 2% milk
- 1 (1 oz) packet ranch seasoning mix
- ½ cup sour cream
- Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season and Cook Chicken: In a bowl, combine ranch seasoning, salt, and pepper. Season chicken pieces with this mixture thoroughly. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until it is golden brown and cooked through. Once done, remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- Prepare the Gravy: Using the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Then, stir in the condensed cream of chicken soup, milk, and ranch seasoning mix packet. Allow the mixture to simmer gently until it becomes smooth and creamy.
- Combine Chicken and Gravy: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet and stir them into the creamy gravy. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
- Finish with Sour Cream and Garnish: After simmering, stir in the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Garnish the dish with freshly chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve hot alongside mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken breasts with chicken thighs for juicier meat.
- If you prefer a thicker gravy, simmer a bit longer or add a slurry of cornstarch and water.
- For a lighter version, use low-fat sour cream and milk.
- If ranch seasoning packets are unavailable, you can make your own blend with dried herbs like dill, parsley, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
