Description

Easter Dirt Cake is a fun and festive no-bake dessert that layers crushed Golden Oreos with a creamy vanilla pudding and whipped topping mixture. Decorated with green-tinted coconut grass and colorful Easter candies, it’s perfect for spring celebrations and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust and Topping

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Golden Oreos, crushed into crumbs

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Pudding Mixture

  • 2 packages (3.4 oz each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 12 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

Decoration

  • Assorted Easter candy (such as chocolate eggs, bunny or chick-shaped candies, and pastel sprinkles)
  • Green-tinted shredded coconut or edible grass (for the “grass” topping)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Crush the Golden Oreos in a food processor or place them in a plastic bag and crush until they resemble fine crumbs.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and continue beating until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Mix Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Fold the thickened pudding into the cream cheese mixture gently. Then fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is well blended and smooth.
  5. Layer Dessert: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the crushed Oreo crumbs evenly. Next, spread the pudding mixture over the Oreo layer. Top with the remaining crushed Oreos, smoothing the surface.
  6. Decorate: Sprinkle green-tinted shredded coconut or edible grass over the top to mimic grass. Arrange assorted Easter candies like chocolate eggs and bunny or chick-shaped candies over the surface for a festive look.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the dish for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set and flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • To tint coconut green, place shredded sweetened coconut in a zip-top bag, add a few drops of green food coloring, seal the bag, and shake until evenly colored.
  • For added texture and crunch, consider mixing in some chopped chocolate or additional sandwich cookies into the pudding layer or as a topping.
