Ingredients
Scale
Ground Beef Filling
- 1 lb ground beef, drained
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1 (10-oz) can Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles, drained
Cheese Topping
- 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Wonton Cups
- 24 wonton wrappers
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the taco cups.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease to keep the filling from being too oily.
- Season and Combine: Stir in the taco seasoning and the drained Ro-Tel diced tomatoes and green chiles. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until well combined and heated through to enhance the flavors.
- Prepare Wonton Cups: Lightly grease a muffin tin to prevent sticking. Press one wonton wrapper firmly into each cup, shaping them into small cups that will hold the filling.
- Fill Wonton Cups: Spoon the seasoned beef mixture evenly into each wonton wrapper cup, filling them generously but not overflowing.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of each filled wonton cup to add a rich and melty topping.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers turn golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the taco cups to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the tin. Serve with optional garnishes like sour cream, guacamole, or salsa for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can brush the wonton wrappers lightly with oil before baking.
- Feel free to customize the filling by adding beans, corn, or diced onions for extra texture and flavor.
- These taco cups are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
- Use low-fat ground beef to reduce fat content if preferred.
