Ingredients
Scale
Satay Sauce Ingredients
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes or sriracha (optional for heat)
- 2-4 tbsp water (to thin)
Instructions
- Mix the ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame oil, lime juice, garlic powder, and chili flakes or sriracha if using. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Thin the sauce: Slowly add water one tablespoon at a time while stirring constantly. Continue until the sauce reaches your desired consistency — thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but thin enough to be drizzled or used as a dip.
- Taste and adjust: Sample the sauce and adjust the seasonings as needed. Add more lime juice for brightness, honey for sweetness, or chili flakes for extra heat according to your preference.
- Serve: Use the sauce immediately as a dip or drizzle over grilled meats, vegetables, or noodles. Alternatively, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- If you prefer a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup.
- Adjust the chili flakes or sriracha quantity for desired spiciness.
- For a thinner sauce, add more water gradually but avoid making it too watery.
- Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container; stir well before each use as the ingredients may separate.
- Can also be used as a marinade or salad dressing with a slight dilution.
