Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Frying
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil, about 2 cups)
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated to form a uniform mixture.
- Form the balls: Using your hands, take small portions of the mixture and roll them into round balls about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, making sure they hold their shape firmly.
- Heat the oil: Pour oil into a deep skillet or frying pan to a depth of about 1 to 1.5 inches. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C) or until a small piece of breadcrumb sizzles upon contact.
- Fry the meatballs: Carefully place the beef balls into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Fry them for about 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain and serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried beef balls from the oil and place them onto a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor.
- Ensure the oil temperature is maintained so the beef balls cook evenly without absorbing too much oil.
- These can be served with dipping sauces like ranch, marinara, or spicy ketchup.
- If you prefer baking, these can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through, for a healthier version.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet or oven.
