Description

Delicious and healthy homemade Twix cups featuring a crunchy almond flour crust, creamy date caramel, and rich dark chocolate topping. These guilt-free treats are perfect for a sweet snack or dessert, combining natural ingredients without refined sugars.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Caramel Filling

  • 1/2 cup medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Topping

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cacao or higher)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners to prepare for the crust.
  2. Make Crust Mixture: In a bowl, combine almond flour, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and salt, mixing until the mixture becomes crumbly and cohesive enough to press into the pan.
  3. Form Crusts: Press the crumbly mixture evenly into the bottom of each muffin cup, creating a uniform base layer for the Twix cups.
  4. Bake Crusts: Bake the crusts in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until they turn lightly golden brown, then remove them and let them cool completely.
  5. Prepare Caramel Layer: In a food processor, blend the pitted medjool dates, almond butter, coconut milk, coconut sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy, forming a natural caramel filling.
  6. Assemble Caramel Layer: Spread the caramel evenly over each cooled crust in the muffin tin, then place the tray in the freezer for 15 minutes to allow the caramel to set firmly.
  7. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  8. Top with Chocolate: Pour the melted chocolate over the set caramel layer evenly in each muffin cup, then refrigerate the entire tin for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate topping to harden.
  9. Serve: Once fully set, remove the Twix cups from the paper liners and serve chilled for a delicious and healthy treat.

Notes

  • Ensure dates are softened if they are dry for easier blending by soaking in warm water for 10 minutes before processing.
  • The cups should be kept refrigerated to maintain firmness but can be stored in the freezer for longer shelf life.
  • Use high-quality dark chocolate (70% cacao or higher) for the best flavor and health benefits.
  • These Twix cups are naturally gluten-free and refined sugar-free.
  • Press the crust mixture firmly to avoid crumbling when eating.
