Description

This Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita is a vibrant and spicy twist on the classic margarita, featuring a luscious mango purée blended with hot honey and Tajín spice. This refreshing cocktail combines sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors for a perfect summery drink with a kick, ideal for those who enjoy bold and exciting tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
  • 1-2 tsp hot honey
  • Pinch of chili powder (optional)
  • 2 oz spirit of your choice (tequila recommended)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)
  • ½ cup mango purée (prepared from mango chunks)
  • 1 cup ice

For Garnishing

  • Tajín for the rim
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 dried árbol pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks with hot honey and a pinch of chili powder if desired until smooth. Adjust the purée’s thickness by adding a splash of water or lime juice if needed to reach your preferred consistency.
  2. Rim the Glass: Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your serving glass. Then dip the rim into Tajín spice to coat it thoroughly, adding a flavorful and spicy edge to every sip.
  3. Mix the Margarita: For a frozen version, blend the spirit, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice together until smooth. For a shaken margarita, combine these ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into the prepared Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle additional hot honey inside the glass to enhance the sweetness and spiciness. Prepare the dried árbol pepper by rinsing and deseeding if you prefer milder heat, or use whole with seeds for more intense spice. Add the pepper to the glass and finish by garnishing with a fresh lime wedge. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the hot honey amount to control the cocktail’s spice level.
  • The dried árbol pepper adds heat but can be customized by removing seeds.
  • If you prefer a less sweet margarita, reduce the hot honey or use less Cointreau.
  • This cocktail works well with tequila, mezcal, or other preferred spirits.
  • For a non-frozen margarita, shaking ingredients rather than blending maintains texture and flavor.
