Description

These Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls are a delicious appetizer combining creamy, spicy jalapeno popper filling wrapped in flaky, buttery crescent roll dough. Perfectly baked until golden brown and cheesy, they make a crowd-pleasing snack or party treat with a hint of heat and loads of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can crescent roll dough (8 oz)

Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapenos (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For Brushing

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapenos, chopped green onions (if using), garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles on a clean surface.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Spoon about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cheese and jalapeno mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Carefully roll up each triangle towards the narrow end, pinching the edges closed to seal the filling inside these little pockets.
  5. Brush with Butter: Place the prepared rolls on the lined baking sheet. Using a brush, coat the tops of the crescent rolls with melted butter to promote browning and add richness.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown, puffed up, and the cheese inside is bubbly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burning and to help the filling set.

Notes

  • For a milder version, remove all jalapeno seeds as they contain most of the heat.
  • Optionally, add cooked bacon bits to the filling for more flavor.
  • You can substitute pepper jack cheese for cheddar to enhance the spice level.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
  • Serve warm for best taste and texture.
