Description

The Jalapeno Popper Sandwich is a delightful and spicy American main course featuring a creamy blend of cheeses, fresh jalapenos, crispy bacon, and a buttery toasted sandwich roll. Perfectly baked until bubbly and golden, this cheesy sandwich combines the heat of jalapenos with the richness of cream cheese and bacon, making it a comforting and flavorful choice for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 sandwich rolls or hoagie buns
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 to 4 fresh jalapenos, seeded and finely chopped
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the sandwiches.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, shredded mozzarella, finely chopped jalapenos, crumbled bacon, mayonnaise, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Prepare the rolls: Slice each sandwich roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread the softened butter evenly on the outside of each roll to ensure a golden, toasted crust.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches: Open the rolls carefully and generously fill them with the jalapeno popper cheese and bacon mixture, distributing it evenly across all sandwiches.
  5. Bake the sandwiches: Place the prepared sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the filling is hot and bubbly and the bread is lightly toasted.
  6. Optional broiling: For an extra crispy finish, switch the oven to broil and broil the sandwiches for 1 to 2 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the sandwiches hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat by leaving some jalapeno seeds in for a spicier sandwich or removing them all for a milder flavor.
  • For a heartier meal, add sliced grilled chicken into the filling mixture before baking.
