Ingredients
Scale
Lemon Cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Zest of 1 large lemon
- Juice of 2 large lemons
Syrup and Assembly
- 1 package ladyfingers (about 24)
- 1 1/2 cups lemon syrup (see below) or store-bought lemon-flavored soda (e.g., San Pellegrino Limonata)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons limoncello (for an adult version)
- Optional topping: lemon zest, white chocolate shavings, or additional powdered sugar
Instructions
- Make the Lemon Cream: In a bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Whip the Cream: In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until everything is evenly combined and light.
- Prepare the Lemon Syrup: Prepare or use store-bought lemon syrup or lemon-flavored soda to soak the ladyfingers. For an adult twist, add 2 tablespoons of limoncello to the syrup or soda mix.
- Assemble the Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the lemon syrup or soda just long enough to soak but not become soggy. Arrange a single layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish.
- Layer the Lemon Cream: Spread half of the lemon cream evenly over the ladyfingers. Repeat by adding a second layer of soaked ladyfingers, then finish by spreading the remaining lemon cream on top.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 3 hours, or until set and chilled through.
- Decorate and Serve: Before serving, garnish with lemon zest, white chocolate shavings, or a dusting of powdered sugar for added visual appeal and flavor.
Notes
- Room temperature mascarpone ensures a smoother cream mixture without lumps.
- Do not soak ladyfingers too long to avoid sogginess; a quick dip is sufficient.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit limoncello.
- Refrigerate for a minimum of 3 hours to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
- Use fresh lemons for the best bright citrus flavor.
