Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- ½ cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Wet Ingredients
- ¼ cup almond butter (or any nut butter)
- ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy, as needed for consistency)
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the oats, protein powder, salt, and mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the almond butter, honey (or maple syrup), and peppermint extract until you get a smooth and uniform mixture.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir well to combine. If the mixture feels too dry, gradually add milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough sticks together when pressed.
- Form Balls: Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and arrange them on a plate or tray.
- Chill: Refrigerate the protein balls for at least 30 minutes to allow them to set and firm up.
- Store Properly: Keep the protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week to maintain freshness.
Notes
- For a stronger mint flavor, adjust the peppermint extract carefully as it is very potent.
- To add natural color and extra nutrients, blend in a handful of spinach before forming the balls.
