Description

Patriotic Brownie Bombs are delightful, festive treats perfect for celebrations. These bite-sized brownie sandwiches feature a rich chocolate base with a creamy, colorful cream cheese filling in red and blue hues, making them visually striking and deliciously indulgent. Ideal for parties or holiday gatherings, they combine the classic fudgy texture of brownies with a smooth, sweet filling for a crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box family-size brownie mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water (or coffee for extra flavor)

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Red and blue gel food coloring, as needed

Optional Decoration

  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare the Batter: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, two large eggs, vegetable oil, and water or coffee. Stir thoroughly until the batter is smooth and well blended.
  2. Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter evenly into a greased baking pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
  3. Make the Cream Cheese Filling: While the brownies cool, mix together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a separate bowl until smooth and creamy. Divide the filling and tint portions with red and blue gel food coloring to create the patriotic colors.
  4. Cut Brownie Circles: Once the brownies have cooled, use a small round cookie cutter to cut out circles from the brownie sheet, creating uniform pieces for the brownie bombs.
  5. Assemble the Brownie Bombs: Place a dollop of the colored cream cheese filling on one brownie circle, then sandwich it with another brownie circle to form a filled brownie bomb.
  6. Decorate and Chill: Optionally roll the assembled brownie bombs in sprinkles to add festive decoration. Refrigerate the brownie bombs for at least 30 minutes to set the filling before serving.

Notes

  • Using coffee instead of water in the brownie batter enhances the chocolate flavor.
  • For easier sandwiching, ensure brownies are completely cooled before cutting and assembling.
  • Gel food coloring is preferred to maintain the smooth texture of the cream cheese filling without adding extra liquid.
  • Chilling the brownie bombs helps the filling firm up for better handling and a cleaner bite.
  • Sprinkles add a fun touch but can be omitted if desired.
