Ingredients
Scale
Meat & Vegetables
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 14 ounces shaved steak
- 1 small sweet onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small red bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings & Sauces
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Dough & Cheese
- 16 ounces (2 tubes) crescent rolls
- 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone cheese
Egg Wash
- 1 large egg
- Splash of water
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large sheet tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Cook Steak: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shaved steak and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown on both sides, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Cook until softened, approximately 8 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds to release its aroma.
- Combine Meat and Seasonings: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak seasoning until everything is well combined. Remove from heat.
- Arrange Crescent Rolls: Place a small bowl in the center of the prepared sheet tray. Arrange the crescent roll triangles around the bowl in a sunburst pattern, ensuring the wide ends overlap slightly to form a base.
- Add Filling: Spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly around the inside edge of the crescent rolls. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese atop the filling.
- Form the Ring: Carefully pull the crescent roll triangle tips over the filling and tuck them underneath the base to seal the ring and create a beautiful enclosed shape.
- Prepare Egg Wash: Whisk together the egg and a splash of water in a small bowl until smooth.
- Brush and Bake: Brush the outside of the crescent dough with the egg wash to give it a shiny, golden crust. Optionally, sprinkle with dried parsley for extra color and flavor. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
- Using a small bowl in the center helps achieve a perfect circular shape for the crescent ring.
- For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños to the vegetable mix.
- The egg wash gives the crescent roll crust a beautiful golden color and appealing shine.
- Leftover steak can be substituted with thinly sliced roast beef or cooked steak strips.
- Let the ring cool slightly before slicing to keep the filling intact.
