Description

Delight in these flaky, buttery Pistachio Chocolate Croissants, featuring a creamy pistachio spread and rich dark chocolate wrapped inside golden, puffed croissant dough. Perfect for breakfast or an indulgent snack, these croissants combine the nutty crunch of pistachios with smooth chocolate in a simple yet impressive baked treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissant Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated croissant dough (8 croissants)

Filling

  • 0.5 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
  • 0.33 cup pistachio cream or pistachio butter
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped or chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Topping and Finishing

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Prepare croissant dough: Unroll the refrigerated croissant dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles ready for filling.
  3. Mix pistachio topping: In a small bowl, combine the finely chopped pistachios with granulated sugar to enhance sweetness and texture.
  4. Add filling to dough: Spread about one teaspoon of pistachio cream or butter onto the wide end of each croissant triangle.
  5. Top with chocolate and pistachio mix: Sprinkle a small amount of chopped dark chocolate and the pistachio-sugar mixture over the pistachio cream on each triangle.
  6. Roll croissants: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle toward the pointed tip to shape the croissants. Tuck the tip underneath to secure the roll.
  7. Apply egg wash and butter: Arrange the croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Brush their tops with beaten egg for a shiny golden finish, and lightly brush with melted butter for extra richness.
  8. Bake: Bake the croissants in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until they are puffed up, golden brown, and fully cooked.
  9. Cool and finish: Remove the croissants from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving for a sweet finishing touch.

Notes

  • For extra richness and decadence, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the croissants after baking.
  • Store any leftover croissants in an airtight container to keep them fresh, and reheat briefly in the oven to restore their crispness before serving.
