Description

This creamy and flavorful roasted garlic dip features soft, caramelized garlic blended with cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Perfect as a rich and savory appetizer or party dip, it offers a smooth texture and a mild lemony punch, garnished with fresh herbs for a touch of freshness.

Ingredients

Scale

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 whole garlic bulb
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Dip Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for roasting the garlic bulb.
  2. Prepare Garlic: Cut the top off the garlic bulb to expose the cloves, drizzle the exposed cloves with olive oil, then wrap the bulb tightly in aluminum foil.
  3. Roast Garlic: Place the wrapped garlic bulb on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven for 40 minutes until the cloves are soft and golden brown.
  4. Extract Roasted Garlic: After roasting, allow the garlic bulb to cool enough to handle, then squeeze the softened, roasted garlic cloves out of their skins into a mixing bowl.
  5. Mix Dip Ingredients: Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and lemon juice to the bowl with roasted garlic. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  6. Season: Taste the dip and season with salt and pepper according to your preference.
  7. Chill: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and the dip to firm up.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, optionally sprinkle chopped fresh parsley or chives over the top for color and fresh flavor. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • Make sure the garlic is fully roasted for a sweeter, milder garlic flavor.
  • The dip can be prepared a day in advance to enhance flavor melding.
  • Use full-fat dairy products for the creamiest texture.
  • Serve with crackers, fresh vegetables, or toasted bread slices.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
