Ingredients
Scale
Steak
- 1 pound flank steak or skirt steak
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Garlic Bread
- 1 large loaf French bread, sliced in half lengthwise
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Optional: red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Season the steak: In a bowl, combine the steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and olive oil. Massage the seasoning into the meat to coat evenly for flavorful results.
- Cook the steak: Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness. Once cooked, transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes to retain juices.
- Prepare garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley until well combined.
- Assemble the garlic bread: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves of the French bread to ensure every bite is flavorful. Then, sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheeses evenly on top of the buttered bread.
- Broil the bread: Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese melts and turns golden brown. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- Add sliced steak: Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain for tenderness. Arrange the steak slices evenly over the cheesy garlic bread.
- Warm through: Return the bread topped with steak to the oven for about 1 minute to warm everything together if desired.
- Serve: Slice the steak garlic bread into portions and serve immediately while warm. Optionally sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
Notes
- For added flavor, drizzle the steak garlic bread with balsamic glaze just before serving.
- Sautéed onions make a wonderful topping addition for extra sweetness and texture.
- Ribeye steak may be used instead of flank steak for a richer, more marbled result.
