Ingredients
Scale
Tea Base
- 1 cup water
- 1 black tea bag or 1 tablespoon loose leaf black tea
- 1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Sweetener and Flavor
- 1 tablespoon honey or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Milk
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based, such as almond or oat milk)
Instructions
- Boil Water and Infuse Spices and Tea: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the cinnamon stick or ground cinnamon along with the black tea bag or loose leaf tea to infuse the flavors.
- Steep the Tea: Let the tea and cinnamon steep together for 4 to 5 minutes. Adjust steeping time according to how strong you want your tea.
- Strain and Sweeten: Remove the tea bag or strain out the loose tea leaves and cinnamon if needed. Stir in the honey or your chosen sweetener while the tea is still warm so it dissolves well.
- Add Milk and Vanilla: Pour in the milk and add vanilla extract if using. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Warm the Tea: Place the saucepan over low heat and warm the milk tea gently until it is hot and creamy, but do not boil to avoid curdling the milk.
- Serve Warm: Pour the sweet cinnamon milk tea into a mug, remove the cinnamon stick if used, and enjoy your comforting beverage warm.
Notes
- Use plant-based milk like almond or oat milk for a dairy-free option.
- Adjust the honey amount to suit your preferred sweetness level.
- For stronger cinnamon flavor, use a cinnamon stick instead of ground cinnamon and let it steep longer.
- Vanilla extract is optional but adds a lovely aromatic note to the tea.
- This recipe serves one but can be easily scaled up for multiple servings.
