Description

This Taco Spaghetti recipe is a flavorful fusion dish combining the zest of taco seasoning with the comforting texture of spaghetti. Ready in just 25 minutes, it’s perfect for a quick, satisfying dinner that blends the best of Mexican and Italian-inspired flavors with ground beef, salsa, cheddar cheese, and a creamy touch of sour cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 ounces spaghetti

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

Additional

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until the onions become soft and translucent, approximately 3 minutes.
  4. Add Taco Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef evenly.
  5. Combine Salsa and Pasta: Mix in the salsa and the cooked spaghetti, stirring thoroughly to blend the flavors and coat the pasta well.
  6. Add Sour Cream: Lower the heat to low and stir in the sour cream until the pasta mixture is creamy and smooth.
  7. Melt Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet briefly and let the cheese melt for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, then garnish with chopped green onions and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
  • Substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt for a healthier twist.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra spice.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace ground beef with plant-based meat alternatives or lentils.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
